Occupational Noise Assessments

Waveform Acoustics provides accurate and ongoing occupational noise assessments, measuring and managing occupational noise for your business.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

People

The Safety of your safe is paramount. Using a dosimeter, we can individually check the noise level and exposure time your employees are being exposed to.

Equipment and activities

We use two types of noise monitoring pieces of equipment to measure the amount and length of a certain piece of equipment that produces noise emissions. Our team also can do this for certain activities within the workspace. The equipment used for this testing are:

·   Noise loggers (ARL Ngara noise logger)

·  Hand-held noise monitor (SVANTEK 979 sound level meter)

New equipment

In many industrial and manufacturing businesses new equipment is required to have a risk assessment undertaken. We can help you with these mandatory risk assessments or all new and existing equipment.

HOW DO WE MEASURE?

We use:

· Dosimeter

· SVANTEK 979 sound level meter

· ARL Ngara noise logger

Dosimeter

Dosimeters are small noise loggers that can be worn on the shoulder to measure noise close to the ear (within 10 to 20 cm). We use dosimeter testing for testing employee safety in the workplace, specifically, we measure:

·       Employee exposure, with the limit being 85 dB(A) over an 8 hour period.

·       Maximum sound pressure, with the limit being 140 dB(C).

A Dosimeter is a standard noise assessment device for an occupational noise assessment as it ensures accurate results and is less work for employers. If we use other noise monitoring devices, we will need to work with employers to determine where an employee is exposed to noise throughout their shift and calculate the length and volume of noise exposure. Therefore, for individual employees' safety, we recommend the Dosimeter.

SVANTEK 979 sound level meter

SVAN979 is a class 1 type approved sound level meter and analyser with superior technical specifications. It is a handheld device that measures sound insulation measurements, precise frequency, and signal tonality. This sophisticated tool has been equipped with frequency analysis in both 1/1 & 1/3 octave bands, FFT analysis, and audio recording for noise source recognition. At Waveform Acoustics we use this piece of equipment to measure equipment and activity noise emissions within a business.

Ngara noise logger

The Ngara noise logger is a real-time sound acquisition system. This noise monitoring equipment allows us to measure and record a full combination of frequencies and statistical intervals.

The Ngara is capable of storing high quality, high resolution audio which our consultant can analysis. These results help us to determine the noise emissions received at sensitive noise receivers such as neighbouring properties etc.
